Etihad Airways has launched bookings for its new service connecting Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) with Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) in Medan, Indonesia. The airline will commence operations on the route starting October 2, 2025, with three weekly flights utilizing its latest Airbus A321LR aircraft.

Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, is a significant economic and cultural hub in Indonesia. The new route is expected to enhance business and tourism ties between the UAE and Indonesia, providing travelers with greater connectivity to one of Southeast Asia’s emerging destinations.

The addition of Medan to Etihad’s network marks its continued global expansion in 2025. This route is part of a broader growth strategy, with the airline already announcing 14 new destinations this year. Further network expansions are anticipated as Etihad strengthens its position in key international markets.

Etihad’s A321LR aircraft, known for their fuel efficiency and extended range, will operate the route, offering passengers a comfortable travel experience with modern amenities. The service is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers seeking direct access between the Middle East and Sumatra.

Indonesia remains an important market for Etihad, with the airline already operating flights to Jakarta and Bali. The launch of the Medan route is expected to support growing demand for travel between the two countries, driven by trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges. With the introduction of this service, Etihad further consolidates its role in connecting Abu Dhabi to strategic global destinations.

The airline continues to leverage its expanding fleet and network to enhance its offerings, catering to a diverse passenger base. Bookings for the new Abu Dhabi-Medan route are now open, with flights scheduled to begin in October. Passengers can access flight details and reservations through Etihad’s official website and partner travel agencies. – By MENA Newswire News Desk.
